'Dan Dailey and Gale Sherwood star in this treasure from the golden age of live television. Paris in the Springtime is an original musical produced by Max Liebman’s creative team. As late as December 24, 1955, The Cat and the Fiddle [a 1931 Kern-Harbach musical] was announced for the live telecast of January 21, 1956. However, a copyright issue arose suddenly and another musical had to be found — or invented. In short order, Liebman’s script writers William Friedberg and Neil Simon came up with a story of an acting troupe seeking artistic acclaim in Paris. Under the musical direction of Irwin Kostal [who would later create orchestrations for such legendary shows as West Side Story and The Music Man], the score was assembled from the songbooks of Gershwin, Rodgers, Porter, Arlen, Styne, and more. The result is a delightfully satisfying and varied show that brilliantly showcases the talents of the sparkling cast of film, theatre, and cabaret greats: Dailey, Sherwood, Helen Gallagher, Jack Whiting, Carleton Carpenter, and Geneviève. An historical footnote: the Arlen-Harburg classic 'Down With Love' is here sung by Jack Whiting, who introduced the song on Broadway in 1937, in the show 'Hooray for What!' '. (Black and white. 'In 1999 Sasha Waltz started working on her three-piece choreographic cycle about the human body. In 'Korper', following up this extraordinary research, she investigates the anatomy and the physical appearance of the human being, relating her dancers‘ bodies to architecture, science, and history, searching for the origin of life, of Eros, and of sensibility. 'noBody' asks about the metaphysical existence of humanity. PART III 'noBody' questions the metaphysical existence of humanity. It addresses the absence of the body, and confronts us with feelings that our own realization of being mortal awakes in us. Without a body, what makes us human? In 'noBody' the choreographer, accompanied by twenty-five dancers, faces the challenge of rendering the non-physical visible by using the physical body itself. 'noBody' is co-produced by the Festival d’Avignon. In July 2002, the piece was performed eight times at Cour d’Honneur, Pope Palace. Its unique historical setting, together with the Mendelsohnian architecture of the Schaubuhne, was a huge influence during the development of this production'. (Includes an eight minute bonus. 'Titian’s genius and significance in European art are undisputed. Trained at the Giovanni Bellini workshop and influenced by working together with Giorgione, he came to a masterly use of colour, light and shade. His oeuvre contains everything his times demanded: drama, carnal lust, religious fervour, mythology and portraits. Didier Baussy-Oulianoff takes us to the places where the renaissance artist devised his works and worked for the most influential courts. Contemporaries of Titian’s, such as Vasari and Aretino, also get a look in and we see that, in addition to being a gifted portrait-painter, Titian was also a skilled businessman'.
